Role Overview:

The Chief Geologist – Copper will provide strategic and technical leadership for all copper exploration and resource development activities across the DR Congo operations. The incumbent will oversee geological programs, manage multi-site teams, and drive resource growth through advanced exploration, modeling, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage copper exploration projects from early-stage prospecting to resource definition and development.
• Oversee
  
  geological mapping, drilling programs, sampling, and core logging to ensure accurate data acquisition.
• Supervise resource estimation, modeling, and reporting in line with international standards (JORC/NI 43-101).
• Collaborate with mine planning, processing, and project teams to optimize resource-to-reserve conversion.
• Evaluate new mineral prospects, conduct technical due diligence, and provide geological inputs for potential acquisitions.
• Ensure robust geological database management and QA/QC protocols.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing team of national and expatriate geologists.
• Ensure full compliance with HSE, corporate governance, and sustainability standards.
• Represent the geology function in management and board-level reviews, providing strategic insights on exploration progress.

Qualifications & Experience:

  Geology, Applied Geology, or Earth Sciences.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in base metal exploration, with strong exposure to copper projects.
• Proven expertise in resource estimation, geostatistics, and geological modeling.
• Proficiency in software such as Leapfrog, Datamine, Surpac, ArcGIS, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multicultural, cross-functional teams in large-scale exploration environments.
• Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
