We are looking for an experienced Underwriters in US Mortgage Industry for Non-QM Diligence reviews. In this role, you will be responsible for performing in-depth due diligence of the Underwriting documents and quality control reviews of non-qualified mortgage (non-QM) loan files. The primary goal is to ensure compliance with company guidelines, investor requirements, and federal and state regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and expertise in non-QM loan products and underwriting standards.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

1. Loan File Review & Analysis:

Perform comprehensive reviews of non-QM mortgage loan files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with non-QM underwriting guidelines.

Review and verify income, credit, assets, property valuation, title, and other documentation for adherence to guidelines.

Identify and assess loan risks and escalate discrepancies or concerns as needed.

2. Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:

Ensure all loans comply with federal, state, and investor regulations, including RESPA, TILA, Dodd-Frank, and other applicable regulations.

Stay updated on changing non-QM regulations and underwriting standards to ensure compliance in diligence reviews.

3. Reporting & Documentation:

Document findings from diligence reviews and prepare detailed reports for management, investors, and audit teams.

Maintain accurate records of reviewed loan files and ensure proper storage of documentation.

4. Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with Managers and QCs to resolve loan file discrepancies.

Provide feedback and recommend process improvements to enhance diligence review efficiency and quality.

5. Risk Assessment:

Conduct a thorough risk assessment of loan files, identifying red flags, and addressing potential issues with non-QM loans.

Provide recommendations on the acceptance or rejection of non-QM loans based on the quality of the file and compliance risk.

6. Training & Development:

Participate in ongoing education regarding industry trends, new products, and changing compliance rules.

Must Have & Desired Skills:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in non-QM mortgage diligence, underwriting
• Strong knowledge of non-QM loan products, guidelines, and risk factors.
• Experience working with non-QM lenders or investors is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to identify risks and errors in mortgage files.
• Proficient in using loan origination systems (LOS) and due diligence software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Education: Bachelors degree in finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
