Role Responsibilities
This role is within the Financial Markets business (“FM”). The individual will cater to duties and responsibilities to Macro Trading.
FM business has a footprint in over 30+ countries with an annual $5 bn revenue (1/3rd of Standard Chartered Bank’s revenue), managing 500+ traders with over $265+ bn assets under their direct control. The asset portfolio comprises a wide variety of financial instruments totalling ~$80 bn in risk weighted assets. FM
FP&A team supports the CFO functions providing financial insights, assessing regulatory impacts on performance and tracking progress of strategic initiatives.
The incumbent is expected to have forward looking (FP&A) mindset along with the below:
- Business Finance support for atleast one business / product within Macro
- Adhoc nature of work including sub product analysis, Solvent wind down, trading book analysis to comply with PRA guidelines.
- Calculate cost of novation of trading portfolio, free up and deploy capital to RoTE accretive trades.
- Analyse how leverage can free up; provide solution on booking models and how balance sheet can be optimized.
- Sound understanding of RoTE, RoRWA, Sub Optimal Deals, etc.
- Quarterly performance drivers and narratives, achievements and challenges.
- Sharp Communication Skills. Has understanding of cracking a problem statement and explaining to the team such that outcome can be achieved quickly.
- Should have the ability to push back when something is unachievable or highlight “what can be done” and “what cannot be done”.
- Understanding of cost and the various drivers for Incurred as well as Intra FM allocations.
- Client Analytics - Understanding Client performance, relationship and resource consumption.
- Review and validation of scorecards for measuring business performance.
- Bespoke analysis surrounding financial analytics and helping the business achieve its target.
- SME for driving Automation and Improvement in the team.
- Primary contact person for the business and local finance teams with regards to issues related to the business.
- Sound knowledge of finance systems like MRC, HP, PMI, RMI and can guide the team through any issues. Such systems can be similar or benchmarked to other financial systems across organisations within the FP&A space.

- A first class finance / Product Control division, which continually seeks to challenge and improve standards.
- A strong internal control environment, which will ensure the business, continues to grow in a stable and well-controlled manner.
- Driving closer alignment between FP&A and in-country finance teams.
- Optimal systems configuration and process improvements, leading to cost efficiencies.
