The focus of this role is to drive change and create accountability in the business related to benefits realization through the use of key metrics, balanced reporting, action planning, forecasting, and budgeting. This role contributes to State Street’s mission of becoming a high performing organization by driving the strategic direction and roadmap of Enlighten, State Street’s productivity tool of choice, to ensure it meets our needs.

The team you will be joining is a part of State Street Global Services (SSGS). SSGS gives asset owners and managers access to the essential financial tools they need to deliver effective investment solutions. From core custody, accounting, fund administration and shareholder recordkeeping, to complete operations solutions and servicing for alternative assets like OTC derivatives, private equity and real estate, SSGS’ tools help our clients make better investment choices and act on growth opportunities.

What you will be responsible for


As a Business Analyst, you will


  • Actively work with Finance and Capacity Planning departments to analyze staffing plans, forecasts, and budget recommendations.

  • Ensure business is utilizing Enlighten data to justify current and future staffing requirements, forecasting, and adds to staff.

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop continuous improvement strategies linked to important business strategies and objectives.

  • Coordinate business review meetings on a (weekly, bi-weekly or monthly) basis to:

    • Review and discuss current results, including headcount vs targets

    • Ensure numbers are accurate and complete

    • Discuss with business leaders’ reason for the Gap and what is being done to reduce it

    • Track actions the business taking, hold them accountable to deliverables

    • Ensure Absorption benefits are related to, and consistent with, valid increases in volumes

    • Track and confirm attrition is captured accurately

    • Compare how the business is tracking against benefit goals

    • Seek out improvement opportunities (e.g. cross training, load balancing) to reduce Gap

    • Ensure teams are using a balanced approach so productivity improvements and cost reduction are not detrimental to clients or the business.



  • Audit weekly benefit reports to make sure accurate information is being reported. Follow-up with teams regarding any discrepancies and/or late approvals.

  • Review spans of control within the business and make recommendations for consolidation of teams

  • Consolidate and track best practices to make sure they are being shared

  • Understand organizations goals and ensure that goal alignment is occurring at every level.

  • Use Enlighten data to support leadership in building sound business cases, delivering effective business improvement initiatives, and changing behaviors through positive KPI’s.

Education & Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree; MBA preferred

  • Four years of experience in an operational environment within a banking/insurance/financial services organization as a Business Analyst

  • Exposure to Enlighten or other similar performance management, measurement or workforce planning system

  • Experience in supporting teams in environments characterized by volume volatility, strict deadlines, ongoing training and cultural change

  • Optional: Six Sigma Certified to Green Belt or higher

  • Expertise in the use of Microsoft Applications – specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
