Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Associate level Ceded Reinsurance Accountant to support year-end close activities and ongoing accounting operations. Due to current staffing constraints, this engagement is expected to extend beyond year-end for the right candidate.

This role will be embedded within the existing accounting team and will focus on hands-on ceded reinsurance accounting, including journal entry preparation, supporting documentation, and reconciliations. Prior ceded reinsurance experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries related to ceded reinsurance activity, including premiums, claims, reserves, and recoverables
• Develop and maintain supporting documentation and reconciliation packages for ceded reinsurance accounts
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Partner with accounting and finance team members to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting
• Investigate variances and assist with data validation and analysis
• Provide documentation and support for audit requests as needed

Qualifications

• 3 5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Hands-on experience with ceded reinsurance accounting
• Exposure to insurance accounting close processes; Life & Annuity experience preferred
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail

Ability to meet tight close deadlines and work independently
