Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Manager/Director to lead both our Software Development and Infrastructure teams. This role will be responsible for defining technical strategy, driving architecture decisions, and delivering core banking and remittance platforms. The ideal candidate has hands-on engineering expertise, experience managing technical teams, and a strong understanding of cloud-based systems in regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the IT strategy aligned with product and business objectives
• Lead both Software Development and
  
  Infrastructure/DevOps teams, ensuring cohesive execution across the stack
• Oversee the full development lifecycle of remittance and banking products, from planning to deployment and support
• Design and implement scalable cloud infrastructure using microservices architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred)
• Manage release processes, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and quality assurance
• Ensure all systems meet regulatory and security standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, AML/KYC)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, compliance, and operations to align technical execution
• Evaluate and integrate third-party technologies such as APIs, payment gateways, and core banking services.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years in software or IT roles, with at least 5 years managing both development and infrastructure teams.

  Proven experience delivering and scaling production-level financial systems.
• Strong technical skills in backend development, APIs, database architecture, and cloud technologies
• Deep understanding of microservices, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and system reliability
• Experience with secure development practices and financial compliance standards
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with international remittance platforms or digital banking services
• Familiarity with East African financial ecosystems or diaspora-based financial services
• Background in startup, fintech, or high-growth technology environments
