Senior Director - IT Engineering

Position Overview

The Hartfords Enterprise Cloud Organization is seeking an experienced Cloud Services Leader to drive the strategic evolution of its cloud initiatives. This critical role will define and advance the enterprise cloud strategy, architect and deliver scalable solutions across multi-cloud environments, and champion innovation through the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies. The position ensures strict compliance with Hartfords architectural standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements.

As a strategic leader, the Cloud Services Leader will partner with technology leaders, senior executives, and key stakeholders across infrastructure, enterprise cloud architecture, engineering, operations, security, data services, and CIO functionsspanning geographies in India and the United Statesto design and deliver a resilient, application-centric cloud ecosystem that maximizes enterprise capabilities and accelerates digital transformation.

Job Duties

• Lead end-to-end cloud services deliveryincluding architecture, product and reliability engineering for multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP), ensuring adherence to software engineering principles and governance standards.
• Build and manage a world-class platform engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
• Drive design, implementation, orchestration, automation, and maintenance of services across GCP, AWS, and multi-cloud ecosystems.
• Collaborate with global stakeholders and technology partners across multiple geographies and time zones to enable secure, reliable, and scalable cloud transformation.
• Establish and maintain technology standards, reference architecture blueprints, enterprise-level architecture decisions, and reusable engineering patterns.
• 
  Lead technology selection workshops and proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate and adopt emerging solutions.
• Provide mentorship and career development opportunities, serving as an inspirational leader for technical teams.
• Exhibit strong enterprise leadership behaviors, influencing effectively, aligning with stakeholder needs, and driving execution with a proactive, results-oriented approach.

Qualification

• 15+ years of experience as a technology leader with a strong background in technology infrastructure and 10+ years leading cloud engineering and architecture teams.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS preferred, GCP) in multi-cloud environments.
• Proven expertise in building scalable cloud solutions, leveraging emerging technologies such as Generative AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics.
• Deep understanding of DevSecOps principles and scaled agile methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment and collaborate across cross-functional teams and ability to operate with influence; experience managing resources across multiple geographies and time zones is highly desirable.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.

  Get Hired
  Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
• Familiarity with the insurance or banking industry is a plus, though not mandatory.
