Paralegal (Insolvency And Dispute Resolution)

The Paralegal will be joining the Insolvency and Dispute Resolution team and the role will be focused on Cayman and BVI law.

While the primary focus of the role will be to work in the IDR team, the Paralegal may be required to assist lawyers in the Funds, Corporate and Finance teams.

Job duties

The Paralegal will be responsible for all IDR work under the supervision of an Associate and work closely with the Supervising Partner in the team.

• Research and analyse law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, legal codes and laws


• Prepares legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, affidavits, appeals, contracts, correspondence, settlement agreements, memoranda of advice for review, approval, and use by Lawyer.


• Manages the solvent wind up of companies with appropriate supervision.


• Investigates facts and laws to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly



• To review first drafts of legal documents and alert Lawyer to pertinent issues arising


• To maintain accurate records and correspondence files in relation to the Lawyer's client files


• To liaise with clients as appropriate and in accordance with Lawyer's instructions


• To carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose of the job, including the performance of duties outside normal working hours

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Qualified paralegal with experience within a legal environment (LPC or equivalent).


• Understanding of corporate and fund structures preferable.


• Experience of legal research.


• Offshore experience not required.
