Role Overview
Transition VC is seeking a Vice President - Manufacturing to lead manufacturing and industrial scale-up expertise across our investment portfolio. This role is critical in evaluating and supporting startups and SMEs as they transition from early production to scaled, world-class manufacturing operations, particularly within the energy and industrial sectors.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building manufacturing operations from scratch, including shop floors and full-scale plants, and scaling them end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and support manufacturing readiness and scalability of startups and SMEs across the portfolio.
- Lead manufacturing due diligence for potential investments, including plant layout, processes, capex planning, vendor strategy, and scalability.
- Advise portfolio companies on setting up shop floors and manufacturing plants (A-Z) - from site selection and layout to commissioning and ramp-up.

- Support process optimization, quality systems, cost efficiency, and yield improvement.
- Work closely with founders, operations heads, and plant leadership to drive manufacturing excellence and scale.
- Assess risks related to supply chain, capacity planning, tooling, and automation.
- Leverage industry best practices across mechanical, electrical, and industrial manufacturing.
- Represent Transition VC in technical and manufacturing discussions with partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
Key Requirements
- 10-12 years of experience in manufacturing leadership roles within energy, industrial, or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Prior experience scaling startups or SMEs on the manufacturing side is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience in building manufacturing plants and shop floors from scratch (A-Z).
- Strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering.
Experience in sectors such as:
- Automobile & auto components
- Electrical equipment manufacturing
- Energy (oil & gas, renewables)
- Solar cells/modules, wind turbines, or related energy infrastructure
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, capex planning, quality systems, and operations scaling.
- Ability to work closely with founders and investment teams to translate manufacturing capability into scalable growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in renewable energy manufacturing or energy transition technologies.
- Exposure to automation, lean manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 practices.
- Prior experience working with investors, PE/VC-backed companies, or rapid scale-up environments.
