ABOUT VALARR
Valarr is a startup-focused hiring partner working closely with early-stage and growth-stage companies to help them build teams from zero to scale. The company operates in a high-speed, execution-driven environment where outcomes are defined by the ability to understand hiring needs quickly, move with urgency, and consistently deliver the right talent.
At present, the business has been built through strong execution in domestic hiring, primarily driven throughfounder-led efforts. The next phase focuses on building a structured and scalable business across two core verticals: domestic startup hiring in India and global remote hiring for international clients.
ROLE OVERVIEW
This role is designed for a high-ownership, execution-focused leader who can take complete responsibility for building and scaling the business development function across both domestic and global hiring verticals.
The expectation is not to manage an existing system - but to create one. You will identify and acquire clients, convert them into active hiring partners, and build a strong portfolio of companies that consistently engage with
Valarr for their hiring needs. You will work directly with the founder as the person responsible for building a structured client acquisition engine that can scale beyond individual effort.
THE TWO VERTICALSDomestic Hiring (India)
Focused on Indian startups across early and growth stages - fast decision-making, shorter hiring cycles, and high volume across business, product, marketing, and operations roles. The goal is to build strong founder relationships, convert conversations into active mandates at speed, and create consistency and depth in the client base.Global Hiring (International Clients)
Focused on international startups looking to hire talent in India remotely. This requires a more consultative approach - engaging global founders, understanding their hiring strategy, and positioning India as a strong talent base. While initial cycles may be longer, the focus is on building long-term, repeat hiring relationships at scale.ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the entire client acquisition and mandate generation process across both verticals
- Build a structured outbound pipeline: identify prospects, execute outreach, conduct founder/hiring manager conversations
- Convert engagements into active hiring mandates by clearly understanding requirements and positioning Valarr
- Nurture client relationships beyond initial engagement - drive repeat collaboration and long-term partnerships
- Define and implement scalable systems: outreach frameworks, follow-up mechanisms, pipeline tracking structures
- Build and mentor a business development team as the function scales
- Stay closely aligned with delivery teams to ensure client expectations are consistently met

A key outcome of this role is to build and maintain a portfolio of 50+ active clients over time. An active client is defined as a company currently hiring, with ongoing mandates, or that has engaged Valarr for hiring within a recent and relevant time frame. The focus is on depth of engagement and repeat collaboration - not passive or one-time accounts.
WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
- Proven experience in business development within recruitment or staffing
- Track record of acquiring clients and converting them into active hiring partners
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous, build-from-scratch environments
- Motivated by ownership and impact - not structure and predictability

This is not a structured corporate setup with defined working hours or fixed processes. This role involves hustle, ambiguity, and the responsibility of building something from the ground up. It requires someone comfortable taking initiative, solving problems independently, and working through challenges to create outcomes. If you are looking for a 9-5 role or a position where most systems are already in place, this will not be the right fit.
