Role Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Estimation Engineer to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing engineering drawings, preparing detailed cost estimates, and coordinating with vendors to ensure accurate and competitive proposals for heavy fabrication and machining projects. This role requires technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and effective communication to liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.

Responsibilities of Estimation Engineer

1.Develop accurate, timely and cost-effective estimates of labor and materials for engineering projects.

2.Research and analyze technical drawings, blueprints, specifications and other documents to accurately determine project scope, schedule and cost estimates.

3.Develop cost models and other tools to assist in estimating.

4.Prepare, review and present cost estimates to management.

5.Analyze vendor quotations and prepare bid package comparisons.

6.Track and monitor project costs throughout the project lifecycle.

7.Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors.

8.Participate in project meetings and maintain open and effective communication with project team.

9.Monitor changes to project scope and adjust estimates accordingly.

10.Identify cost savings opportunities and recommend process improvements.

Key Skills and Attributes:

1.Strong knowledge of fabrication and machining processes, materials, and tools.

2.Expertise in cost estimation, project planning, and vendor management.

4.Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

5.Knowledge of CPOT (Critical Path Optimization Techniques) and cost optimization strategies.

Key Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

2. Minimum of 8+ years of experience in estimation within the heavy engineering sector.

3. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

4. Prior experience in heavy fabrication or machining industries is preferable.

5. Strong analytical, communication, negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

6. Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ERP systems) with a strong understanding of engineering drawings.

7. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
