Job Title: Secondary Geography Teacher

School Name: Vishwajyot High School

Location: Kharghar, Navi Mumbai


Position Summary

The Secondary Geography Teacher at Vishwajyot High School will deliver engaging, inquiry-based geography lessons aligned with the ICSE curriculum. The teacher is expected to foster curiosity about the physical and human environment, build strong mapping and analytical skills, and support holistic student development in line with the schools learner-centric philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver effective lessons for Grades 6–10 as per ICSE Geography syllabus.
  • Teach core concepts including landforms, climate, resources, population, agriculture, industries, and contemporary global issues.
  • Integrate inquiry-based learning, case studies, real-world examples, and project-based pedagogy.
  • Use teaching aids, technology, and interactive tools to enhance learning experiences.

2. Assessment & Evaluation

  • Prepare and administer unit tests, term exams, assignments, mapwork, and practical assessments as per ICSE guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed records of student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support students in preparing for ICSE Board examinations with revision sessions and targeted remediation.

3. Classroom Management

  • Maintain a respectful, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage student participation, critical thinking, and collaborative learning.
  • Uphold school discipline policies and classroom routines.

4. Curriculum Planning & Contribution

  • Participate in annual curriculum mapping and resource development for the department.
  • Design projects, fieldwork activities, and model-making assignments in alignment with ICSE standards.
  • Integrate environmental awareness, sustainability, and global citizenship themes consistent with school ethos.

5. Fieldwork & Enrichment Activities

  • Organise and supervise geography-related field trips (e.g., landforms, industry visits, environmental studies).
  • Guide students in geography exhibitions, Olympiads, competitions, and school events.

6. Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings, parent–teacher interactions, and professional development sessions.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about academic progress and behavioural growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular activities and school initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography / Earth Sciences / Environmental Studies (required).
  • B.Ed. with specialization relevant to Geography (required).
  • Experience teaching Geography at the secondary level; ICSE experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ICSE geography syllabus, exam patterns, and assessment requirements.
