Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Manager-level Ceded Reinsurance Accounting professional to support year-end close activities and provide ongoing oversight within the ceded reinsurance accounting function. Due to ongoing staffing challenges, this engagement is expected to extend 6 12+ months for the right candidate.

This role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with review, oversight, and technical guidance, partnering closely with the existing accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial close and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and approve journal entries related to ceded reinsurance activity
• Review reconciliations and supporting documentation for ceded reinsurance balances
• Provide technical guidance and oversight to senior associates or junior team members
• Serve as a key point of contact during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
• Partner with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to resolve complex accounting issues
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation standards
• Support audit requests and assist with issue resolution

Qualifications

• 5 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong ceded reinsurance accounting background, including review and oversight experience
• Prior experience leading or reviewing close activities in an insurance environment
• Life & Annuity reinsurance experience strongly preferred

• Strong communication skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
