What is the primary need, technical challenge, or problem you will be responsible for?

• VMware Network and Security Business (NSBU) team is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Engineering - Data Analytics within BU located in Palo Alto, CA. This position is responsible for hands on development work on all aspects of the BU’s reporting structure. The candidate will work closely with remote the Data Engineering and Analytics Team and BU leadership to define, scope, develop, and maintain all the BU’s reports that provide valuable insights and leading indicators on all OKRs and KPIs.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• Responsible for creating & maintaining Data Products/Infrastructure
• Build Data pipelines, transform the raw data into relevant meaningful Data, and make it available for consumption
• Create and manage business unit reports and dashboards
• Manage and prioritize requests
• Solid business understanding
• Strategic thinker
• Work with key stakeholders to identify ways to collect and report key metrics

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• This role will be responsible for aligning with key BU leaders to develop and maintain a key list of reports and dashboard that drive the health of the business. These reports will be used to drive results and identify "blind spots".
• You will need to understand what data is readily available in the data set(s) and where the source data resides and how its being ingested into the various data lakes, reports, and dashboards. This role will also need to identify gaps in the data and recommend ways on being able to solve and/or work around these gaps
• You will be responsible on making sure the reports maintained and improved as business conditions and priorities change or mature
• Familiar with SAP BusinessObjects platform or Tableau
• Strong front end development experience preferably BO 4.x version and above, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud with good development skills
• Excellent SQL & Analytical SQL functions knowledge
• Strong analytical skills, map business processes and requirements to a solution design
• Experience working with Sales and/or Customer facing roles not necessary but beneficial

Where is this role located?

• Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and/or remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. (Palo Alto or India preferred)

For US based candidates, the annual pay range (OTE for commissioned roles; Salary for other roles) for this position is: $96,000 - $218,000. The actual offer will be based on the role, location, and individual candidate experience. Bonus, commission, and/or equity may be eligible for this position.
