Lead Business Analyst – SaaS Data & Analytics

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• Within 30 days of employment, establish relationships with your peers, stakeholders, and become competent in VMware’s data strategies; then work closely with your business stakeholders and peers to understand VMWare’s SaaS Business and related data needs at a high level.


• Within 60-90 days of employment, you will be expected to align with and drive VMware data strategies, while building best in class data products to support your partners. Proficiency in various data querying and validation approaches, ad-hoc data analysis and deep dives using various analytics tools is also expected. Critical during this period, is development / application of expertise in SaaS and subscription business related analytics.


• Within 180 days, you will be expected to support your business partners’ long- and short-term SaaS and Subscription data needs by strategically positioning data products with the stakeholders. This will require you to build strong relationships, and to consistently produce accurate business assessments, along with translating their business needs into long-term data driven solutions.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

Your regular activities can be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments:

• Deliver SaaS and Subscription metrics and related analytic data sets in VMWare’s Enterprise Data Warehouse to support VMWare’s transition to a Multi-Cloud business model; effectively drive and improve the self-service model in the business.


• Query data and perform reporting/ad-hoc analyses/deep dives to shape the detailed data requirements for metrics/KPIs and the associated data set.


• Partner with business and EDA stakeholders to understand the data needs and provide advice on how to use the metrics and the data.


• 
  Support end-to-end Business Intelligence lifecycle development processes as needed, which includes, but is not limited to, capture business requirement definitions (BRD/user stories), create functional requirement definitions (FRD), technical design documents (TDD), and run user acceptance testing (UAT).


• Support the enterprise SaaS analytics effort in pursuit of VMWare’s Multi-Cloud and SaaS Acceleration Plan (MCSAP).


• Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT on the KPIs and metrics to monitor and run the business and build reports using them


• Partner closely with IT counterparts on functional requirements and design to drive successful end state solutions.


• Provide clear path to the automation of metrics and data to the business stakeholders with a clear articulation of dependencies and asks.


• Prototype and implement reports and dashboards to get users engaged and excited about BI & Analytics solutions


• Oversight and project manage Data, BI & Analytics related tasks within the project such as providing status reports, lead BI requirement gathering sessions and UAT activities.


• Lead current state to future state detailed impact analysis activities to provide input to program and product/solution strategy and approach.


• Connect the dots between different data domains and metrics to help inform data strategy.


• Leads and is accountable for end-to-end testing and QA lifecycle activities to validate requirements are being met through data solutions, data model verification, and AS-IS to TO-BE reconciliations.

Bonus Points if

• You have experience with SaaS and Subscription data analysis, metrics and dashboards


• You have previous experience in automating metrics, KPIs and successful migration of users from manual reporting to automated analytics

You will be part of the Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) team at VMware. This team is responsible for curating and building SaaS metrics and related data and analytics products. Our team is responsible for driving actionable insights across VMware through path-breaking analytics products.

Flexible: This role is based in Bangalore, India and is open to full time remote working from any location within India.
