Job Description
- As a Symfony Developer, you will play a crucial role in our backend development team, focusing on constructing and maintaining robust, scalable web applications. Your primary responsibilities will include designing efficient, high-quality code and implementing features that support our innovative building management solutions. Collaboration with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders will be essential to ensure seamless integration and optimal platform performance.
In your role, you will be expected to:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using Symfony.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that follows industry best practices.
- Implement new features and enhance existing functionalities based on business requirements.
You will also be responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining RESTful APIs for frontend-backend communication.
- Integrating third-party services and APIs to enhance platform functionality.
- Ensuring secure and efficient data handling and storage.
Database management tasks will include:
- Designing and optimizing database schemas using MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for data retrieval and reporting.
- Ensuring data integrity and performance through effective database management practices.
Performance optimization will involve:
- Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks for optimal speed and scalability.
- Conducting code reviews and refactoring to improve maintainability and performance.
Collaboration and communication with team members are key:
- Working closely with front-end developers for seamless integration.
- Collaborating with product managers and stakeholders to implement business requirements.
- Communicating effectively to align on project goals and deliverables.
Other responsibilities include:
- Writing and maintaining unit and integration tests for application reliability.
- Collaborating with QA teams to troubleshoot and resolve testing issues.
- Maintaining focus on delivering high-quality software meeting functional and non-functional requirements.
Continuous improvement is vital:
- Staying updated on Symfony and PHP development trends.
- Contributing to enhancing development processes and tools.
- Participating in Agile ceremonies for project planning and retrospectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

- Proficiency in PHP, MySQL/PostgreSQL, and web application development.
- Experience with RESTful API design.
- Proficiency in Dutch and English with strong communication skills.
- Strong understanding of OOP and design patterns.
- Experience with Git and GitLab.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with API Platform.
- Familiarity with RealEstateCore, MongoDB, GraphQL, and Graph databases.
- Experience with messaging systems like RabbitMQ.
- Knowledge of Docker and containerized environments.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies like React or Vue.js.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience in building management or smart building industry.,
