Job Description
Selected Interns Day-to-day Responsibilities Include
- Performing daily health checks and security monitoring on edge devices (Raspberry Pi and other Linux-based systems).
- Conducting manual security scans to identify suspicious processes, unauthorized access, malware, or abnormal system behavior.
- Reviewing system logs (auth logs, syslogs, cron jobs, running services) to detect anomalies.
- Assisting in configuring, updating, and maintaining Ubuntu-based devices with security best practices.
- Verifying software integrity and checking for unauthorized installations or modifications.
- Supporting patch management by ensuring timely OS and package updates.
- Troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues on edge deployments.
- Writing simple scripts (Python/Bash) to automate security checks and reporting.
- Documenting findings, incidents, and remediation steps in internal trackers.
- Assisting the security team in incident triage and preliminary investigation.
- Basic knowledge of Ubuntu/Linux systems (processes, services, permissions, SSH).
- Understanding of fundamental cybersecurity concepts (malware, ports, firewalls, logs, privilege escalation).
- Familiarity with Raspberry Pi or embedded/Linux-based edge devices.
- Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar).
- Basic understanding of networking (IP, ports, SSH, firewall basics).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
