Job Description

Role Overview:
As an Area Sales Manager in the FMCG & General Trade sector, you will be the driving force behind expanding our market presence and achieving sales targets within your assigned territory in Nigeria. You will be responsible for managing and developing a team of sales representatives, building strong relationships with distributors and retailers, and implementing effective sales strategies to maximize product availability and visibility. Your efforts will directly contribute to increased revenue, market share growth, and enhanced brand recognition among consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute area-specific sales plans and strategies to achieve or exceed sales targets within the assigned territory.
- Manage and motivate a team of sales representatives, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback to enhance their skills and productivity.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key distributors and retailers, ensuring optimal product availability, visibility, and promotion in the general trade channel.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Analyze sales data and performance metrics to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including pricing guidelines, trade promotions, and inventory management.
- Conduct regular market visits to assess sales execution, gather market intelligence, and identify new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with marketing and trade marketing teams to develop and implement effective promotional campaigns and trade activities.

- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales strategies to achieve or exceed targets in the FMCG sector.
- Proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team of sales representatives in a general trade environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret sales data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Deep understanding of the Nigerian FMCG market, including consumer behavior, competitive landscape, and distribution channels.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- Adaptability to work on-site in the assigned territory within Nigeria, requiring frequent travel and market visits.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in FMCG sales, with a focus on general trade and distribution management.
