Postdoctoral Fellow And Assistant Professor Of Cognitive Computing & AI Systems

Position Overview

This dual-track academic position combines cutting-edge research activities with teaching responsibilities in our institutions growing artificial intelligence program. The role offers a unique opportunity to develop an independent research trajectory while contributing to our educational mission in cognitive computing, human-AI integration, and applied machine learning. Responsibilities

Research Activities (60%)

• Develop and execute an independent research agenda in cognitive AI systems and human-technology integration
• Design and implement research protocols for cognitive modeling in complex systems
• Contribute to ongoing research initiatives in domains such as aviation systems, healthcare intelligence, urban management, or agricultural optimization
• Publish findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at leading conferences
• Collaborate with faculty colleagues on multidisciplinary research projects
• Assist in grant writing and research funding applications
• Supervise graduate and undergraduate research assistants

Teaching Responsibilities (30%)

• Develop and teach 2-3 courses annually in areas such as cognitive architectures, AI systems, computational neuroscience, or machine learning applications

• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research projects
• Develop innovative approaches to AI education that bridge theoretical foundations with practical applications
• Contribute to curriculum development in cognitive computing and AI programs
• Provide academic advising to students pursuing AI-related degrees

Service and Outreach (10%)

• Participate in departmental meetings and committees
• Engage with the broader academic community through conference participation and peer review
• Assist in organizing seminars, workshops, and guest lectures
• Contribute to outreach activities that promote AI literacy and education
• Build relationships with industry partners for research collaboration and student opportunities

Qualifications

Required

  Get Hired
  PhD in Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or closely related field completed within the last 5 years
• Demonstrated research experience in cognitive systems, AI, machine learning, or computational neuroscience
• Record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields
• Evidence of teaching potential or experience
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts
• Commitment to inclusive and equitable teaching and research practices

Preferred

• Interdisciplinary research experience bridging cognitive science and AI applications
• Experience with applied AI in domains such as aviation, healthcare, urban systems, or agriculture
• Prior postdoctoral research experience
