Role Description The Machinist role at Akshaya Press Tools is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The Machinist will set up and operate CNC and conventional machines such as milling, turning, and grinding equipment to produce precision components, tools, and fixtures according to engineering drawings and specifications. Responsibilities include interpreting technical drawings, selecting tools and materials, adjusting machine settings, performing measurements and inspections, and maintaining required tolerances and surface finishes. The Machinist will also perform routine machine maintenance, identify and correct machining issues, collaborate with engineers and supervisors on process improvements, and support tool and fixture repair, modification, and development. Strict adherence to safety procedures, quality standards, and production timelines is expected.
Qualifications

• Strong practical skills in CNC machining, conventional machining, turning, and milling for precision components and tools.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
• Experience in tool and fixture manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and modification for press tools and jigs/fixtures.
• Knowledge of basic fabrication and welding practices related to tool room and manufacturing operations.
• Understanding of shop safety standards, machine maintenance routines, and quality control procedures.
• Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Relevant technical qualification such as ITI, Diploma, or equivalent in Machinist, Tool & Die Making, Mechanical, or related discipline.
• Prior experience in automotive, manufacturing, or tool room environments is an advantage.
