Position Overview

The Deputy Associate - Intralogistics Automation (Projects) will support the end-to-end execution of automated warehouse and material handling projects. This hands-on role involves coordinating project timelines, assisting with on-site installation, collaborating with engineering vendors, and ensuring that automation systems are commissioned safely, on time, and up to technical specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a foundational background in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering, paired with strong organizational and project execution tracking skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution & Tracking

  • Assist the Project Manager in tracking project milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation using project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, or Asana).
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including layouts, technical datasheets, change orders, Daily Progress Reports (DPRs), and meeting minutes.
  • Monitor on-site project progress to ensure execution aligns closely with the approved engineering drawings and project layouts.

2. On-Site Installation & Commissioning Support

  • Supervise and coordinate with third-party vendors, contractors, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) during the physical installation of systems like conveyors, AGVs, AMRs, and AS/RS cranes.
  • Assist in the basic hardware and software integration tests (e.g., testing sensor alignment, motor configurations, and network connectivity).
  • Support the execution of Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) protocols alongside the quality and engineering teams.

3. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Act as a key liaison between internal design/software engineering teams and on-site deployment contractors.
  • Coordinate with the facilitys safety team to ensure all on-site installation and testing work adheres strictly to EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) protocols.
  • Help resolve minor technical and logistical bottlenecks on the ground to prevent project delays.

4. Hypercare & Handover

  • Support the smooth transition of commissioned automated systems over to the facilitys Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Assist in organizing and delivering technical user-training sessions for warehouse operators and maintenance technicians.
  • Log and track any post-commissioning technical glitches during the initial hypercare (early-stage support) phase.

Job Specifications & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelors degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in project execution, site operations, or field engineering-ideally within warehouse automation, e-commerce fulfillment centers, robotics, or industrial manufacturing setups.

Technical Competencies

  • Automation Knowledge: Foundational understanding of intralogistics systems (conveyor logic, sorters, barcode scanners, AGVs/AMRs, or basic PLC-driven machinery).
  • Engineering Software: Ability to read and interpret 2D layouts and 3D schematics in AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Software Systems: Exposure to Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) is a strong advantage.
  • Tools: Proficient in MS Office suite (especially Excel for tracking) and basic project scheduling software.

Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Mobility: Willingness to travel extensively to project sites (warehouses or factories) as required by project lifecycles.
  • Environment: Comfortable working in active construction or commissioning zones within warehouse facilities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Milestone Adherence: Percentage of assigned site sub-tasks completed within the agreed-upon project timelines.
  • Vendor SLA Tracking: Effective tracking and coordination leading to zero downtime caused by vendor mismanagement on site.
  • Documentation Accuracy: 100% up-to-date and complete project folders, ensuring easy retrieval of test logs and manuals.
  • Safety Record: Zero safety incidents or EHS violations on the project site during supervised installations.
