Manager Solution Design Architect - Industrial Automation

Position Summary

seeking an experienced and innovative Solution Design Architect - Automation to lead the design and development of end-to-end automation solutions for manufacturing, process industries, and industrial digital transformation initiatives. The role will be responsible for translating business and operational requirements into scalable automation architectures, integrating OT and IT systems, and ensuring technical excellence across automation projects.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in industrial control systems, automation platforms, digital manufacturing technologies, and solution architecture methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Design

• Develop comprehensive automation solution architectures aligned with customer and business requirements.
• Design integrated systems involving PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, MES, Historian, IIoT, and enterprise applications.
• Create functional, technical, and deployment architecture documents.
• Define system interfaces, communication protocols, data flows, and cybersecurity requirements.
• Evaluate and recommend technology platforms, products, and architectures.

Customer Engagement

• Engage with customers, stakeholders, and business teams to understand operational challenges and requirements.
• Conduct workshops, site assessments, and requirement gathering sessions.
• Present technical solutions, architecture proposals, and proof-of-concepts to customers and leadership teams.
• Support pre-sales activities including technical proposals, solution estimation, and RFP/RFQ responses.

Automation System Design

• Design automation solutions using platforms such as:
  • Siemens (TIA Portal, PCS7)
  • Rockwell Automation (FactoryTalk, Studio 5000)
  • Schneider Electric
  • Honeywell
  • Emerson
  • ABB
  • Yokogawa
• Develop control philosophies, network architectures, and system integration strategies.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Digital Transformation & Industry 4.0

• Architect solutions involving:
  • Industrial IoT (IIoT)
  • Edge Computing
  • Predictive Maintenance
  • Advanced Analytics
  • Digital Twins
  
  • Cloud-based industrial applications
• Design data acquisition and integration frameworks between OT and IT environments.

Project Leadership

• Provide technical leadership throughout project lifecycles.
• Collaborate with engineering, software, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and operations teams.
• Review designs and ensure adherence to architecture standards.
• Support commissioning, FAT, SAT, and startup activities when required.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

• Incorporate industrial cybersecurity principles into solution designs.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as:
  • ISA/IEC 62443
  • ISA-95
  • ISA-88
  • NIST Cybersecurity Framework
  • GMP/GAMP (where applicable)

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in industrial automation and control systems.
• 5+ years of experience in solution architecture or lead engineering roles.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale automation and digital transformation projects.
