The Senior Engineer designs and delivers end-to-end data solutions to support business intelligence and decision making, including critical regulatory and strategic projects. This role works in a multi-disciplinary squad to source, extract, move and model data, to build data assets and create reporting solutions. This role drives reliability by ensuring all relevant processes and controls are followed.
As Senior Engineer, this role also supports others to upskill and share knowledge and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
What will your day look like
This Role Is Accountable For
Provide input into design and development of systems and applications to meet technical / business requirements in accordance with ANZs technical standards.
Produce re-usable data assets that stakeholders can leverage to derive value through identification of key trends, insights, and reporting.
Ensure quality assurance is provided through following technical governance & quality control standards in addition to leading, implementing and improving existing processes.
Provide a lead technical role and/or support more complex systems.
Form part of the end-to-end development process, from business requirement to surfacing data in secure and efficient ways.
Provide timely operational support for specific systems which may include after-hours pager support for production systems using the Bank standard change and problem management tools.
Ensure all services comply with ANZ Group, Information & Insights strategy, policies, processes, and standards and with external regulatory requirements.
Provide guidance and support to peers through code reviews and technical leadership.
Mentoring peers and junior team members to upskills and ensure knowledge sharing.
Design, build and resolve problems across the Teradata data warehouse platform, including GCFR and FSDM.
Use and contribute to modern CI/CD practices within a data warehousing function
What will you bring?
The must have knowledge, skill, and experience (KSE) the role requires are:
Proven experience in database platforms e.g. Teradata, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience in data warehousing & ELT experience across a broad technology stack.
Experience with designing and creating data models.
Ability to engage with stakeholder to gather user requirements.
Ability to set clear achievable goals, priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to constructively challenge existing processes and procedures.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to consult and influence stakeholders.
Strong communication, written and presentation skills.
Proven problem-solving skillset with the ability to work individually as well as within a team environment.
The good to have knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are:
Experience delivering work and leading others in an Agile context.
Experience delivering data outcomes that drive decision making in a financial services or banking organisation.
Experience with APIs, containerisation, automation, and CI/CD is highly advantageous.
