Here, you will find more than just a job—you will find purpose and pride.

Your Role at Baxter:

As a Principal Engineer for software, you will be an integral part of the SW development team at Bangalore R&D that will play a vital role in strategic NPD activities and in sustaining and continuing software activities for legacy products including investigations for customer complaints, project work to address software issues within the products, and product enhancements to meet changes in the competitive marketplace. You will work with cross functional resources located in the US.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, QA, and Engineering teams to translate business and technical requirements into scalable, high-quality solutions.
  • Apply modern architecture patterns, design principles, and software engineering best practices to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable applications.
  • Lead subsystem-level design and development activities, driving technical execution with minimal oversight while ensuring alignment with overall product architecture.
  • Develop, test, debug, and optimize software components, ensuring adherence to quality, performance, and security standards.
  • Champion the application of SDLC, Agile, CI/CD, and IEC 62304 methodologies throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in architectural reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions to promote engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Adapt to evolving business priorities and deliver high-quality solutions within established timelines.
  • Actively contribute to Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and design sessions to support effective product delivery.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 12-15 years of experience designing and developing enterprise-grade web applications, with a strong track record of delivering scalable, cloud-native solutions.
  • Proven expertise in full-stack application development using Java, TypeScript, React, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Hands-on experience developing solutions on Microsoft Azure (preferred), AWS, or Google Cloud platforms, including containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, REST APIs, enterprise integration patterns, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with Azure SQL, SQL Server, and other modern database technologies; exposure to Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Proficiency with DevOps and CI/CD practices, leveraging tools such as Azure DevOps, code quality, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience with messaging technologies such as MQTT, with exposure to Kafka or RabbitMQ considered advantageous.
  • Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, design patterns, software architecture, and secure coding practices.
  • Healthcare, medical device, or other regulated industry experience is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence key architectural decisions.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and global collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem-solving, and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Experience mentoring teams and driving innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-driven in fast-paced environments.
  • Customer-focused with a strong commitment to engineering excellence and business outcomes.
