What role will you play in the team?
As a Canada Tax Compliance Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring our clients meet their Canadian tax obligations. You'll be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, identifying compliance issues, and providing solutions to ensure accurate and timely filings. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining our firm's reputation for excellence.
What you will do
You will focus on tax compliance matters, including preparing and reviewing various Canadian tax returns. This involves analyzing financial data, researching tax laws, and collaborating with clients to gather necessary information. You'll also assist with tax audits and represent clients before tax authorities.
Key responsibility
- Prepare and review Canadian federal and provincial tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
- Research and interpret Canadian tax laws and regulations.
- Identify potential tax compliance issues and develop solutions to mitigate risks.
- Assist with tax audits conducted by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and address tax-related inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all tax-related documents.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in Canadian tax laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with other team members to provide comprehensive tax compliance services.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant ethical and professional standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of tax compliance policies and procedures.
Required Qualification and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with Canadian tax compliance software such as TaxPrep or Profile.
- Strong understanding of Canadian federal and provincial tax laws.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with tax research tools and databases.
- Professional certification such as CPA (preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
