- Prepare and review Canadian federal and provincial income tax returns for expatriates.
- Research and analyze Canadian tax legislation and regulations related to expatriate taxation.
- Assist in the preparation of tax equalization calculations and hypothetical tax returns.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and assist in the implementation of tax strategies for expatriates.
- Respond to inquiries from tax authorities and assist with tax audits related to expatriate taxation.
- Prepare and review working papers and maintain accurate documentation.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in Canadian tax laws and regulations related to expatriate taxation.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding expatriate tax matters.
- Assist in the training and development of junior staff in expatriate tax matters.
- Contribute to the development of tax policies and procedures related to expatriate taxation.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial income tax laws, particularly as they relate to expatriates.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning in expatriate tax matters.
- Experience with tax research databases (e.g., Taxnet Pro) is an asset.
