Who We Are

Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.

To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures—and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.

What Youll Do

As Executive Legal Counsel, you will serve as the senior-most Employment Legal leader dedicated to BCGs Asia Pacific (AP) Region, leading the Employment Legal team within AP and advising on the regions most important and complex employment-related matters. You will provide regional leadership while partnering closely with global Legal colleagues and external counsel .

You will be a trusted advisor to senior business and HR leaders, embedded in decision-making on complex, high-impact people topics. The role requires not only deep employment-law expertise, but exceptional judgment, stakeholder management and the ability to navigate sensitive issues across different cultures and jurisdictions. As advances in artificial intelligence reshape how organizations recruit, develop, manage and support their workforce, you will help BCG navigate an evolving employment landscape with sound legal judgment, balancing innovation with legal compliance, responsible governance and the firms values.

Operating across APs diverse legal regimes, cultures and business environments, you will bring together local expertise and regional perspective to help BCG navigate its most complex people matters and implement practical solutions across the region.

  • Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead all Employment Legal matters across AP, covering the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, performance management, investigations, restructurings and exits.
  • Lead and develop BCGs Employment Legal team across AP, establishing clear roles and accountability, building team capabilities, and fostering a cohesive regional approach while leveraging the local expertise required across APs diverse jurisdictions
  • Act as the primary regional legal advisor on complex and high-risk employment matters, including litigation, regulatory issues, internal investigations and sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Partner closely with senior business leaders and HR to shape decisions that balance legal risk, commercial priorities and an exceptional employee experience.
  • Serve as a key Employment Legal partner to AP regional and system leadership, ensuring Employment Legal is engaged early on significant people, organizational and workforce issues
  • Advise on emerging workforce issues and technologies, including AI-enabled employment practices, partnering with global Legal, HR and business teams to ensure AP legal and regulatory considerations are reflected in BCGs approach
  • Drive the development and evolution of employment policies and practices to ensure they remain aligned with changing regulatory requirements, evolving workforce expectations and advances in technology.
  • Lead Employment Legal support for strategic business and people initiatives across AP, including reorganizations, workforce transformations, acquisitions, divestitures and expansion into new markets.
  • Navigate complex cross-border employment issues across AP, identifying common regional approaches where appropriate while recognizing when local legal, regulatory, cultural or employee-relations considerations require differentiated solutions.
  • Enhance how employment legal services are delivered by identifying opportunities to leverage legal technology, AI-enabled tools and data responsibly, while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, consistency and legal defensibility.

What Youll Bring

  • Significant experience in employment law (typically 12–15+ years), with a combination of in-house and leading law firm experience preferred.
  • Deep employment-law expertise in one or more major AP jurisdictions, together with significant experience advising on complex employment matters across multiple AP markets. Experience with Japan and/or broader North East Asia and China employment matters would be particularly valuable.
  • Exceptional legal judgment and experience managing complex, high-profile employment matters involving significant business impact, reputational and stakeholder considerations.
  • Strong understanding of how AI and emerging workplace technologies are reshaping employment law, workforce governance and regulatory expectations.
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives and build trusted relationships across a sophisticated, global organization.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing legal teams across jurisdictions and cultures, while fostering collaboration, inclusion and continuous development.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively across jurisdictions and cultures, bringing together local experts and stakeholders to develop practical regional solutions.
  • Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, practical advice that enables informed business decisions.

Who Youll Work With

You will join BCGs Legal function and work closely with AP regional and system leadership, senior HR leaders, and colleagues across Legal, Risk, Compliance and the business. You will lead and develop the AP Employment Legal team while partnering closely with BCGs global Employment CoE and Employment Legal colleagues in other regions.

You will collaborate with leaders across People, Digital and business teams to navigate evolving employment laws, emerging workforce technologies and organizational transformation. Together, you will help ensure BCG continues to adopt innovative ways of working responsibly, balancing legal compliance, business objectives and an outstanding employee experience.

Additional info

For this role, you will generally be expected to work from a BCG office or in person with clients on a regular basis (typically around 50% of working time), depending on business needs and in line with local policies and practices.

We aim to provide a dynamic and collaborative environment that fosters connection and teamwork.
