This role requires strong Snowflake, data engineering, ETL, analytics, AI, and Cortex expertise. The successful candidate will design and build scalable data pipelines, database objects, and governed data products while helping transition legacy data solutions to a modern Snowflake-based architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead data engineering activities for the migration of GBS systems into Snowflake.
- Support remediation and decommissioning of existing GBS eHANA solutions in UDP.
- Assess current-state data flows, database objects, dependencies, data quality issues, and reporting impacts.
- Design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to migrate and transform data into Snowflake.
- Develop Snowflake objects including tables, views, stored procedures, streams, tasks, stages, and functions.
- Build curated datasets and reusable data products for reporting, analytics, automation, and AI use cases.
- Use Snowflake Cortex to enable AI capabilities such as summarization, classification, semantic search, embeddings, and natural language analysis.
- Implement validation, reconciliation, lineage, documentation, and data quality controls throughout migration.
- Partner with GBS, analytics, data science, architecture, and platform teams to define requirements and deliver trusted solutions.
- Optimize Snowflake workloads for performance, cost, scalability, and reliability.
- Support secure and governed access using roles, policies, masking, tagging, and access controls.
- Provide technical leadership, design input, and mentoring to engineers and analysts.
Required Experience:
- Advanced hands-on experience with Snowflake development, optimization, and object design.
- Strong SQL skills, including complex transformations, analytical logic, reconciliation, and performance tuning.
- Experience delivering enterprise data migrations, system transitions, or platform modernization initiatives.
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines across complex source systems.
- Practical experience with Snowflake Cortex or similar AI-enabled data platform capabilities.
- Strong understanding of database objects, data modeling, dependencies, lineage, and data quality.
- Experience working with structured and semi-structured data.
- Ability to translate business and technical requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Proven experience operating as a senior or principal-level individual contributor.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with SAP ERP or similar finance, sales, and/or supply chain data.
- Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience with Snowflake or similar enterprise data platforms.
- Experience in regulated, governed, or enterprise-scale data environments.
- Database performance and cost optimization
- Data quality and governance
- Basic familiarity with Git and CI/CD
- Snowflake Cortex or similar AI-enabled analytics
- Python experience for data engineering, automation, reconciliation, or AI workflows.
