What awaits you/ Job Profile 

• You will drive corrosion protection and durability engineering activities for future BMW vehicles, ensuring long-term product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
• You will collaborate with global engineering teams to develop robust corrosion prevention strategies across body, chassis, exterior, interior, and powertrain systems.
• You will contribute to the development of innovative materials, coatings, joining technologies, and validation methods to achieve world-class durability performance.
• Join BMWTechWorks India in the Digital Product Engineering cluster, supporting vehicle development programs from concept to production.
• Work closely with design, simulation, testing, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality teams to identify and mitigate corrosion and durability risks.
• Be part of an international cross-functional team focused on premium vehicle quality and sustainable product development.
• Work in a fast-paced environment that promotes technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

What should you bring along

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 6 to 12 years of experience in automotive durability, corrosion engineering, materials engineering, or vehicle validation.
• Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, material behavior, protective coatings, and durability engineering principles.
• Experience in vehicle development, laboratory testing, field analysis, and root cause investigation.
• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, joining technologies, sealing systems, and corrosion prevention techniques.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Very good English language skills (German language is an advantage).
• Ability to work effectively with global engineering teams and suppliers

Must have technical skill 

• Strong knowledge of automotive corrosion engineering, durability validation, and material performance assessment.
• Experience with corrosion prevention technologies including coatings, galvanization, sealing systems, e-coat, paint systems, and surface treatments.
• Hands-on experience in environmental and accelerated corrosion testing such as:
  • Salt Spray Testing (ASTM B117)
  • Cyclic Corrosion Testing (CCT)
  • Climate Chamber Testing
  • Stone Chip and Gravelometer Testing
  • Humidity and Condensation Testing
• Knowledge of durability validation methodologies, test planning, and failure mode analysis.
• Experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions related to corrosion, fatigue, wear, and material degradation.
• Understanding material selection, joining technologies, galvanic corrosion, and structural durability requirements.
• Experience with CAD and PLM systems (CATIA, Teamcenter or equivalent).
• Ability to drive cross-functional technical discussions and support vehicle development programs through design reviews and validation assessments.

Good to have Technical skills

• Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and durability simulations.
• Experience with fatigue life prediction and structural durability assessment methods.
• Understanding of automotive standards and test specifications related to corrosion and durability.
• Experience with laboratory equipment and material characterization techniques.
• Knowledge of lightweight materials such as aluminum, magnesium, composites, and their corrosion behavior.
• Familiarity with BMW, German OEM, or premium automotive development processes.
• Experience in supplier quality and manufacturing process validation.
• German language proficiency.
• Project management and technical lead experience in global vehicle programs.
