Consultant - Critical Care Medicine

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients in ICU, HDU, and emergency situations.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
• Manage patients requiring invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support.
• Perform ICU procedures including:
  • Central venous catheterization
  • Arterial line insertion
  • Endotracheal intubation
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Pleural procedures
  • Advanced airway management
• Monitor and interpret laboratory investigations, radiology reports, and critical care parameters.
• Lead resuscitation efforts and Code Blue responses.

Patient Care Management

• Conduct daily ICU rounds and review patient progress.
• Communicate effectively with patients' families regarding prognosis, treatment plans, and outcomes.
• Ensure timely documentation of clinical findings and treatment plans.
• Coordinate patient transfers within and outside the hospital when required.

Quality & Safety

• Adhere to hospital policies, NABH standards, infection control protocols, and patient safety guidelines.
• Participate in mortality and morbidity reviews.
• Monitor quality indicators and support quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure rational use of antibiotics and adherence to antimicrobial stewardship programs.
