Job Description

A Consultant Orthopaedics diagnoses and treats bone, joint, ligament, and muscle disorders, performs advanced surgeries, and leads clinical teams to restore patient mobility. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Key Responsibilities
    • Clinical Care: Conduct outpatient department (OPD) consultations, manage daily ward rounds, and create personalized non-surgical or surgical treatment plans. [1, 2, 3, 4]
    • Surgical Interventions: Perform complex operations such as joint replacements, arthroscopy, and fracture fixations. [1, 2, 3]
    • Trauma & Emergencies: Handle urgent musculoskeletal trauma, acute fractures, and dislocations while participating in on-call rotas. [1, 2, 3]
    • Diagnostics: Interpret X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and other diagnostic tests. [1, 2]
    • Leadership & Supervision: Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, residents, and surgical trainees. [1, 2, 3]
    • Patient Communication: Counsel patients and families on diagnosis, surgical risks, expected recovery outcomes, and rehabilitation plans. [1, 2]

Essential Qualifications & Skills
    • Education: Medical degree (MBBS/MD/MS or equivalent Doctor of Medicine/Osteopathic Medicine) followed by specialized post-graduate residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery and fellowship training in a subspecialty (e.g., joint replacement, spine, trauma, sports medicine). [1, 2]
    • Licensure & Certification: Valid medical council registration and board certification or relevant specialist accreditation. [1]
    • Core Competencies: Advanced surgical dexterity, critical problem-solving, multidisciplinary collaboration, and sound clinical decision-making.
