What role will you play in the team?
As a Tax Preparer at Deloitte, you will be an integral part of our tax compliance team, assisting in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for a diverse range of clients. You will work closely with senior team members to ensure accuracy and adherence to all relevant tax regulations. Your contributions will be vital for our clients.
What you will do
You will gather financial data, prepare tax work papers, and assist in the preparation of various tax forms, including 1040s, 1120s, and 1065s. Additionally, you'll research tax issues, maintain client records, and support the team with administrative tasks. Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will be essential.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.
- Gather and organize financial data, including income statements, balance sheets, and expense reports.
- Reconcile financial records and resolve discrepancies.
- Conduct tax research to identify applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare work papers to support tax return positions.
- Assist with tax planning and compliance projects.
- Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and answer tax-related questions.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with senior team members to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software (e.g., TurboTax, ProSeries).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Form 1040, Schedule A, Schedule C, and other individual tax forms.
- Familiarity with state and local tax laws.
