Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer, AVP

Location: Pune, India

Role Description

• We are looking for aSenior Backend Engineerto join our Single Sign‑On Services Engineering team in Pune. This role combinesstrong backend engineering expertisewithadvanced production support and domain ownership.
• You will work on highly scalable, security‑critical backend services supporting enterprise authentication and federated identity platforms. In addition to hands‑on development and deep debugging, you will act as asenior technical escalation pointand aSubject Matter Expert (SME)for critical components of the SSO ecosystem.
• This is a hands‑on role requiring strong backend development skills, excellent troubleshooting capability, and a proactive mindset to improve system reliability, resilience, and operational excellence.

Your key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintainrobust backend servicessupporting large‑scale SSO and identity platforms

• Lead investigation and resolution ofcomplex production incidents, ensuring rapid recovery and minimal business impact
• Performdeep technical analysis and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)and drive permanent, long‑term fixes
• Act as atechnical escalation point (SL3)for SL1 and SL2 support teams
• Debug and resolve complex issues acrossJava‑based services, APIs, and distributed systems
• Work extensively withauthentication and federation flows(OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML)
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, DevOps, and Product teams to improve system reliability, observability, and performance
• Analyse logs, metrics, and traces using monitoring and logging platforms (e.g. Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK)
• Support release activities and validateproduction readinessof new features and deployments
• Maintain and enhancerunbooks, knowledge articles, and operational documentation
• Contribute toautomation, tooling, and monitoring improvements to reduce operational overhead
• Ensure adherence tosecurity, compliance, and auditrequirements

Your skills and experience

• Strong hands‑on experience inbackend developmentusingJava(Python or similar languages is an advantage)
• Proven experience troubleshooting and supportingdistributed, high‑availability systemsin production
• Solid understanding ofcloud platforms(AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Hands‑on experience withKubernetes, Docker, and containerised workloads
• Strong Linux knowledge with experience inshell scripting (Bash)and infrastructure‑level debugging

  Get Hired
  Experience withmonitoring, logging, and observability tools(Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, etc.)
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global teams
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Fluent in English

Good to Have (SME Experience)

• Prior experience acting as aSubject Matter Expert (SME)for backend platforms or critical services
• Deep functional expertise inIdentity & Access Management (IAM)orSingle Sign‑On (SSO)domains.
• Deep functional understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM) tools like PingAM, PingIDM, PingDS and Keycloak.
• Hands‑on experience withOAuth2, OpenID Connect, and SAMLin enterprise environments
• Experience drivingpost‑incident reviews, operational improvements, and platform hardening initiatives
• Exposure tosecurity reviews, audits, or regulatory compliance processes
