Purpose of the Position :

The position ensures that -

• The New Innovation Growth Areas of Evonik are uniformly supported through fact-based analyses of new or adjacent technologies and markets, as well as independent recommendations derived from them.
• Internal stakeholders are supported in the project-related search, identification, and evaluation of suitable external industrial partners.
• External technology offerings (e.g., M&A, investment, or technology opportunities, etc.) are analysed in a timely manner and corresponding independent recommendations are provided.

• Spearheads project-related technology and market analyses (conducts literature and patent landscape research, draws fact-based conclusions, validates findings with internal/external experts, provides independent recommendations, documents work in the form of detailed technology and market roadmaps).
• Generates detailed company profiles of suitable innovation partners and contextualizes them within the strategic framework of the New Innovation Growth Areas.
• Identifies and analyses suitable external partners (startups, SMEs, companies) in consultation with Evoniks internal stakeholders.
• Documents results (technology/market evaluations and roadmaps, company profiles, meeting minutes, etc.) that are both comprehensive and easy to understand.

Education, Certification, and/or relevant experience required

• Completed natural science degree (PhD in Chemistry [preferred], Physics, Biology or related) - with honors/distinction.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience, preferably in the field of research & development, innovation, new business development, or patent law.
• Proficient in conducting patent and scientific literature searches and analyses.

Additional skills and abilities required for this position

• First experiences in leading interdisciplinary teams without disciplinary responsibility.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly understand complex issues, analyse complex information, draw conclusions, and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
• Skilled in creating visually appealing and effective presentations using MS PowerPoint.

Technical Knowledge (E.g. specialized knowledge required to perform all the required tasks)

• Strong interest in new technologies and markets, as well as their financial and strategic implications.
• Strong familiarity with Evoniks technology platforms and markets.

Others (if required by the position)

• Ability to communicate fluently and effectively in English, with additional foreign language skills being an advantage.
