Data Science Mentor

Role Description The Data Science Mentor will work full time on-site at the FACE Prep office in Bengaluru, guiding learners through data science concepts and practical applications. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering interactive sessions, explaining core topics such as statistics, machine learning, and data analysis, and helping learners work through coding exercises and real-world projects. The mentor will provide doubt clarification, give individualized feedback on assignments, and support learners in building strong portfolios for placement opportunities. The role also involves designing and refining learning materials, collaborating with the curriculum team to keep content aligned with industry trends, and occasionally conducting workshops or bootcamps. The mentor is expected to create an inclusive learning environment and motivate learners with diverse backgrounds to succeed in data science roles.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in data science, including statistics, probability, machine learning algorithms, and exploratory data analysis.
• Hands-on experience with programming languages and tools commonly used in data science, such as Python or R, data manipulation libraries, and visualization frameworks.
• Practical exposure to building and evaluating models, working with real-world datasets, and using version control and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly, design structured learning paths, and provide constructive feedback to learners.
• Experience in teaching, mentoring, training, or academic instruction in technical subjects is highly beneficial.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset and a learner-centric approach.
• Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Awareness of current industry practices in data science and familiarity with hiring expectations for entry-level data roles.
