Job Overview
This high-impact role will report to our VP of Strategy and support our business leaders with financial insights and recommendations to make informed strategic and operational decisions.
The mission of Gainsight’s Strategy team is to maximize business growth with organic and inorganic levers. The team helps enable strategic, executive, and Board-level decision making for the company through financial modeling and operational data analysis. We are the analytical backbone of the company and provide strategic insights in planning the future growth and strategy of the company, both organically and through acquisitions.
The Strategic Finance position will be a critical member of the team responsible for providing data-driven insights for the Strategy team, our executive team, and the board. This role will work closely with Gainsight’s FP&A and Operations teams (e.g., Revenue Operations) to source the necessary data, and build financial and operational models for key questions in the Strategy team. Questions range from evaluating new market entry investment case to evaluating potential acquisitions in partnership with the corporate development team.
The right person in this role will gain a deep understanding of Gainsight’s market, analyze the underlying financials and data, and work closely with members of the strategy team to support strategic initiatives. To be successful in this role, you must efficiently communicate with the senior executive team on all financial matters of the Strategy group.
Qualifications

• Ability to think creatively, highly-driven, and self-motivated
• Has 6+ years of finance experience at a top investment bank, management consulting firm, private equity firm, or finance role in tech - and ideally 2+ years of SaaS experience
• 
  Understanding of common metrics and cost drivers for SaaS companies
• An understanding of financial forecasting, modeling, and reporting
• Displays a high level of genuine curiosity about our business, asks lots of questions, and exhibits an eagerness to learn.
• Ability to collaborate constructively with business partners and finance colleagues
• Shows an advanced aptitude and enthusiasm for complex problem-solving that uses financial modeling, including strong skills with spreadsheets.
• Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency with PowerPoint or Google Slides.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
• MBA, CA, CFA, or ACCA are a plus
  

Responsibilities

• Support our senior leaders with strategic initiatives and high-impact decisions, e.g. evaluation of new market, strategic partnership, M&A, strategic long term financial planning (e.g., NRR plan), through financial and operational modeling, and evaluation of risks and opportunities.
• Help to assess business scenarios to aid in investment prioritization and resource allocation decision-making with both financial and operational models
• Help with corporate development and strategic partnership activities, including financial assessments and analysis, due diligence, and integration.
• Work on long term business planning
• Perform competitive analyses and turn them into insightful analyses for the business.
• Collaborate on board level presentations on strategic initiatives and progress
