Job Description
Impact Dynamics is the critical domain in aircraft engines as it corelates directly to design and certification. The main objective of the Impact Dynamics team is to minimize the need for engineering tests & build confidence with the regulating bodies to allow certification by analysis.
The main responsibilities are to provide accurate pre-test prediction for Impact tests to avoid surprise in component tests and engine certification (Fan Blade Out, containment, bird/ice impact etc.). Develop LS-Dyna as a design tool for Design Optimization - weight/cost reductions, MRB issue resolution, and Field Fixes & Advance state of the art and leverage the knowledge base across GE through Documented standard work/Best-Practices. The team is enabling GEs vision by developing physics & data driven engineering tools for improving aircraft engines & gas turbine performance and providing GEs customer better value.

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.
Role Overview
- Ensure on-time program deliverables for NPI/Sustaining/ New Technology programs
- Design, develop & validate methods/algorithms and software in Impact Dynamics Domain
- Strong collaboration with the project team, GE Partners & onsite/offsite vendor groups
- Work collaboratively with Tech Lead and Team Manager for risk resolution & project management
- Must be a team player with good problem-solving and presentation skills
- Ideal candidate should have experience in developing Impact dynamics methods, algorithms & software
- Bachelors/ Masters/ PhD Degree in Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent with minimum 4 years of relevant experience
- Successful demonstration of impact dynamics skills in solving an industry problem
- Experience in developing Impact dynamics methods, algorithms & software
- Proficiency in using any CAD (NX), CAE/FEA (ANSYS, Hyper Mesh, etc.) and Explicit Dynamics (LS-DYNA) software
- Experience in aerospace/energy industry with sound knowledge of Mechanical/Structural Analysis, Rotating components & Composite materials.
- Demonstrated awareness of industry and technology trends in aerospace & data science
- Exposure to software development & testing
- Exposure to LEAN & Agile principles
