Get to know the Role:

We are looking for a Data Engineer (Analytics) to operate Azure Data Services that enables Analytics communities to better solve problems and shorten time-to-insights through unified analytics platforms. We believe a successful candidate has working knowledge in Azure Data Services, but if you believe you have what it takes then we’d love to hear from you either way.

The day-to-day activities:

• You will analyze current business practices, processes and procedures and identify future opportunities for leveraging Microsoft Azure Data Services.




• You will support the planning and implementation of data platform services including sizing, configuration, and needs assessment




• You will actively implement Azure Data Services through Infrastructure as Code and Automation Architecture to deliver sustainable solutions to meet business needs and conforms with Grab engineering standards




• You are responsible for administrative, monitoring and diagnostic functions in Azure Data Services (Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Explorer, Event Hub, ADLS, ADF, Stream Analytics, CosmosDB, etc)




• You are accountable for monitoring Azure Data Service performance using audit log data and analyzes usage data and trends to derive appropriate courses of action to ensure the system is performing optimally




• You make an impact by driving the adoption of various analytics data platform initiatives to empower Data Scientist (Analytics) stakeholders in leveraging Azure Data Services to shorten time-to-insights

The must haves:

• You have Heart, Hunger, Honour and Humility




• You hold a Bachelor's/Masters degree, preferably in Analytics, Statistics or Engineering.




• You have a minimum 4 years of experience or multiple internships in Analytics, Engineering, Business Intelligence or Data Science role, preferably in an Internet or 'Direct to Consumer' company with large, complex, high velocity data




• You have experience with IaC (Infrastructure-as-Code) using Terraform is a must.




• You have a strong foundation in Azure Data Services implementation (Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Explorer, Event Hub, ADLS, ADF, Stream Analytics, CosmosDB, etc).




• You are knowledgeable in Python and PySpark.




• You have a strong foundation in data query/manipulation using SQL and data visualisation tools (PowerBI).




• You are passionate about solving problems – possess a relentless need for investigation and data exploration.




• You are results and detail-oriented, with strong intuitions on how to solve problems creatively and quickly.

The Nice-to-Haves:

• You have experience with the Software Engineering domain, familiarity with Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices is desirable.




• You are an effective communicator to both technical and business audiences would be an advantage.
