Job Description

Role Summary:

Real Estate audit team is a part of the Grant Thornton INDUS. As a professional in this team, you will work with GT US teams to audit various clients with businesses in real estate industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience in auditing public real estate companies, including REITs
  • Familiarity with accounting for rental income under ASC 842 – straight-line rent, collectibility assessment
  • Experience in performing a full audit of rental income producing properties
  • Experience in auditing acquisitions of operating real estate, including testing the inputs into a purchase price allocation, dispositions of real estate, impairment.
  • Working knowledge of relevant accounting standards per US GAAP e.g., ASC 842. ASC 606, ASC 360 etc.
  • Understanding and experience of performing SOX 404 procedures.
  • Proactive while communicating operational challenges to US teams regarding availability of team members, utilization of hours, actively seeking and providing feedback.
  • Collaborate with engagement team staffs on client issue resolution and make recommendations for any legal, regulatory and accounting issues that arise during an audit engagement.

Location: Bangalore/Kolkata, India.

Skills

  • Proficiency in US GAAP, GAAS, and PCAOB rules and standards.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong people and project management skills
  • Agile: Ability to adapt and accept challenging situations and tasks and perform with the utmost professionalism.

Professional Experience / Qualifications

  • CA/CPA qualified
  • Minimum 2-3 years of progressive audit experience in a medium to large public accounting firm or equivalent
  • Big 4 experience a plus
