Legal Counsel

As a member of the LCN Team, you will be accountable for providing quality contracting support on a global basis for various GSK stakeholders. Responsibilities include:

• Accountable for providing quality contracting support autonomously to the business. This includes providing analysis, drafting and counsel on transactions, including any related legal, policy, regulatory and compliance issues integrating legal knowledge with sound business understanding of the requirements and IT systems supporting contracting process.

• This role requires a broad-based provision of legal support and expertise to the Supply Chain business on contracting for the procurement of active pharmaceuticals ingredients, medical devices, packaging, development and manufacturing services and logistics services, amongst others as may be required. There will be a focus on external manufacturing contracting and claim management, working in close collaboration with the Legal team supporting quality and the Transactions, Disputes & External Manufacturing Legal team.

• Incumbent is expected to identify any legal risk associated with the commercial contracts being supported and mitigate the same by taking appropriate measures including but not limited to referring to Playbook, and leveraging any support required with line manager.

• The role could involve working on matters of higher complexity with support from their line manager or other legal colleagues.

• Drafting and Negotiation of contracts are key skills for the role. Conduct research on various legal issues. Perform or support due diligence on proposed transactions.

  

• Review and interpret new or pending legislation and regulations impacting contracting to ensure compliance and share knowledge with the rest of the team.

• Familiarity with relevant GSK Policies and SOP s and timely completing the mandatory trainings required for the role.

• Being aware of departmental guidance on best practices, processes, templates, clauses and playbooks.

• Communicates directly with business clients (Procurement) and participates in negotiation meetings, teams and projects as required to provide timely, effective legal advice.

• The role may involve some leadership skills to mentor 1 or 2 junior lawyers.

• Qualified lawyer with minimum 10 years experience in a law firm and/or in-house, including relevant experience in commercial contracting preferred. Priority will be given to in-house recruitment.
