Director, People Operations

Position Summary
As HackerOne grows our global presence, we are excited to establish our new office in Pune, India. We are seeking a Director of People to serve as a strategic and operational leader supporting our India-based employees and collaborating closely with our global People team. This role will be critical in fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture aligned with our values, while also acting as a key partner to the leadership team based in the U.S.
This leader will have a broad remit across talent, compensation and benefits, employee relations, operations, and culture and will also serve as the local site leader for our Pune office, ensuring a cohesive and collaborative experience for an in-office environment.
What You Will Do
- Act as the senior-most People team representative in India, responsible for delivering a high-impact people experience aligned with HackerOnes values and business goals.
- Serve as a strategic HR business partner to India-based leaders and managers, advising on talent planning, performance, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
- Lead People operations and compliance for the India region, ensuring alignment with local labor laws and practices while maintaining consistency with global policies.
- Drive cultural initiatives and programs that foster inclusion, engagement, and belonging within the Pune office and across the global team.
- Design and implement tailored onboarding programs for the India office that reflect both local culture and HackerOnes values to ensure new hires quickly integrate and contribute effectively.
- Support compensation and benefits implementation and employee lifecycle processes (onboarding, mobility, performance, exit) in partnership with global Total Rewards and People Ops teams.
- Act as a local escalation point for complex employee relations matters and provide expert guidance to managers and employees.
- Collaborate with the India-based recruiter (dotted-line relationship) to ensure a seamless talent experience, including headcount planning, onboarding, and internal mobility.
- Serve as the Pune site manager, ensuring the office environment reflects HackerOnes culture, supporting local events and community-building, and representing the site in cross-functional forums.
- Influence and contribute to global People strategies while tailoring and executing regional plans with impact and cultural sensitivity.
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in a fast-paced, global tech environment, including experience managing a regional or country HR function particularly with US-headquartered technology companies expanding into India.
- Strong knowledge of Indian labor law, employment practices, and HR operations.
- Proven success as a strategic business partner with a track record of influencing executive leaders and scaling organizational practices.
- Deep expertise in at least two HR disciplines (e.g., HRBP, employee relations, total rewards, culture/change).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust and navigate across time zones and cultures.
- Passion for building an inclusive and engaging employee experience.
- Prior experience serving as a site or office lead is a plus.
- Fluency in English required.

Total Base Pay Range
- 3,344,000.00 - 4,180,000.00
