Senior Product Architect Electrochemical Stack Design

About the Role
HydGen is seeking a Senior Product Architect to lead the design and development of our advanced AEM electrolyzer stacks. This is a senior technical leadership role reporting directly to the COO, with a focus on stack architecture, design optimization, and seamless integration into our broader hydrogen systems. Youll work across mechanical, materials, and process domains, guiding the team from concept to validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end design and optimization of electrolyzer stacks (bipolar plates, flow fields, sealing, etc.)
- Own technical decision-making around materials, assembly, and system integration
- Collaborate closely with the COO to align product direction with company strategy
- Coordinate across design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing functions
- Apply simulations (thermal, flow, pressure) to drive iterative improvements
- Benchmark designs against global best practices and standards
- Ensure compliance with international safety and performance regulations
- Mentor and lead cross-functional teams of engineers and architects
What Were Looking For
- 810 years of hands-on experience in electrochemical stack designpreferably electrolyzers (AEM, PEM, or alkaline) or flow batteries
- Deep knowledge of materials like SS316, PTFE, adhesives, and advanced sealing strategies
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo) and DFM/tolerance stack-up analysis
- Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of mentoring and driving cross-functional alignment
- Experience in scaling products to multi-kW levels with durability and manufacturability in mind
- Familiarity with global standards (e.g., ISO 22734, IEC) and industry trends
- Bonus: Experience with commercial product launches or international projects in Europe/US
