Electrical Engineer-Hydroelectric power plant

Electrical engineer, 12-20yrs

Projects: focussed on hydro power plants design

Design of electrical and automation cabinets for hydropower plant processes, protection and control systems for generators and turbines, excitation systems, instrumentation, and auxiliary equipment design.

Electrical System Design: Design and review single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematic layouts, and specifications for hydro generators, excitation systems, speed governors, main inlet valves (MIV), and static frequency converters (SFC).
High-Voltage & Auxiliary Equipment: Specify, evaluate, and supervise the

integration of Step-Up (GSU) transformers, Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) / Air-Insulated Switchgear (AIS), medium/low voltage switchgear, emergency diesel generators, and plant auxiliary power systems.
Protection & Control Systems: Oversee the parameterization, testing, and troubleshooting of numerical relay protection schemes (generator, transformer, busbar, and transmission line protection), SCADA, and DCS interfaces.
Testing & Commissioning: Lead factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), dry/wet commissioning runs, synchronized load testing, and performance acceptance trials of hydroelectric units.
Standards & Compliance: Ensure engineering activities strictly comply with grid codes, IEEE, IEC, and local electrical safety regulations.
