Junior ETL And Apache Nifi Data Integration Engineer

What role will you play in the team

You will serve as an integral member of our enterprise data integration division, taking charge of building, maintaining, and monitoring high-throughput ETL pipelines. Working from our Visakhapatnam regional office, you will be instrumental in consolidating disparate data sources into a centralized analytical data warehouse, ensuring pristine data quality, optimal pipeline performance, and strict adherence to enterprise data governance standards.

What you will do

You will construct sophisticated data pipelines using modern ETL tools and Apache Nifi to ingest, transform, and load massive volumes of structured and unstructured data. Your core responsibilities include configuring processor flows, handling schema drift, writing optimized SQL transformation scripts, and establishing robust error-handling mechanisms to guarantee uninterrupted data delivery for downstream analytics and machine learning teams.

Key responsibility

• Design, configure, and manage real-time and batch data ingestion workflows using Apache Nifi and enterprise ETL frameworks.
• Extract data from diverse sources including REST APIs, flat files, MongoDB databases, and legacy relational systems.
• Write complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to transform raw staging tables into structured dimensional models.
• Implement data quality validation rules, automated anomaly detection, and cleansing routines within pipeline sequences.
• Monitor pipeline execution logs, troubleshoot data latency issues, and optimize resource consumption across worker nodes.
• Collaborate with database administrators to index tables correctly and improve query performance for reporting layers.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation mapping data lineage, source-to-target mappings, and transformation logic.

Required Qualification and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related technical field with strong academic credentials.
• Foundational knowledge and practical experience with ETL tools and Apache Nifi data routing processors.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database management systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Basic familiarity with scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation and custom processor extensions.
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, star schemas, and snowflake schemas.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB and handling JSON data structures efficiently.
• Strong analytical mindset, rigorous attention to detail, and excellent troubleshooting capabilities.

A Day in the Life

You kick off your morning by checking the monitoring dashboards in Apache Nifi to verify that overnight batch ingestion jobs completed successfully without errors. Mid-morning, you sit down with a data architect to review source-to-target mapping documents for a new client onboarding project. You spend the afternoon building custom Nifi data flows, writing SQL transformation scripts, and testing error-handling routes. Before signing off, you resolve a minor schema mismatch issue flagged by the automated monitoring system.
