Junior Investment Banking Analyst - M&A And LBO Modeling

What role will you play in the team

You will play a crucial role within our elite Investment Banking execution team by driving quantitative analysis, building robust financial models, and supporting senior deal makers in executing complex domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and capital raising transactions for high-growth corporate clients across diverse industry sectors in the Indian and global markets.

What you will do

You will actively participate in end-to-end transaction lifecycles by conducting rigorous company research, extracting financial data from Bloomberg Terminal and Capital IQ, constructing detailed three-statement financial models, performing discounted cash flow and LBO valuations, and drafting compelling pitch books, confidential information memoranda, and board presentation decks to pitch strategic alternatives to corporate clients and institutional investors.

Key responsibility

• Develop and maintain complex financial models including DCF, LBO, and merger consequences models using advanced Excel Macros & VBA to evaluate investment opportunities and transaction structures.
• Perform comprehensive Comparable Company Analysis and Precedent Transactions Analysis to establish accurate valuation benchmarks for active M&A mandates.
• Extract, aggregate, and analyze financial and market data utilizing Bloomberg Terminal, FactSet, PitchBook, and Dealogic databases for market research reports.
• Draft pitch books, teaser documents, and Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs) for prospective buy-side and sell-side mandates in collaboration with senior bankers.

• Coordinate seamlessly with legal, accounting, and tax advisors during the due diligence phase to manage data rooms and resolve complex financial discrepancies.
• Monitor capital markets platforms and macroeconomic indicators to generate actionable insights and valuation updates for internal deal committees and external clients.

Required Qualification and Skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or related quantitative discipline from a tier-1 institute.
Demonstrated expertise in Valuation Techniques, DCF modeling, LBO analysis, and Comparable Company Analysis.
Proficiency in handling financial data terminals including Bloomberg Terminal, Capital IQ, FactSet, and PitchBook.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and VBA automation for financial statements.
Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with a rigorous attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively under tight transaction deadlines in a fast-paced investment banking environment.

A Day in the Life

Your typical day begins with reviewing morning financial market updates on Bloomberg Terminal and summarizing relevant M&A transactions. You will spend the morning hours updating DCF and LBO models based on revised management projections. Post lunch, you will coordinate with the offshore due diligence team to populate data room documents, followed by an afternoon alignment call with senior vice presidents to review pitch book slides for an upcoming private equity client meeting.
