What role will you play in the team

As a Junior Node.js and Express.js Backend Systems Engineer, you will be an integral part of our core engineering team in Kochi. You will take ownership of designing, building, and maintaining scalable server-side applications, robust RESTful APIs, and secure database architectures to power our high-traffic web platforms. Your focus will be on writing clean, efficient, and well-tested code using modern JavaScript methodologies while collaborating closely with frontend developers and system administrators to ensure seamless end-to-end integration and optimal database query performance.

What you will do

You will actively participate in architectural design discussions, write modular Express.js routes, implement strict input validation, and integrate third-party web services. Your daily routine will involve debugging asynchronous request lifecycles, optimizing MongoDB and PostgreSQL query execution plans, managing source code version control using Git and GitHub, and deploying microservices infrastructure onto AWS cloud environments. You will also participate in rigorous peer code reviews to maintain high engineering standards across all software delivery lifecycles.

Key responsibility

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend microservices using Node.js and Express.js framework architectures.
• Build and document secure RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless data exchange between client applications and server databases.
• Write efficient database queries, manage database migrations, and optimize schema designs for MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
• Utilize Git and GitHub for comprehensive version control, branching strategies, code merging, and pull request reviews.
• Implement stringent security protocols, data encryption standards, and user authentication mechanisms using JWT and OAuth.
• Monitor server performance metrics, troubleshoot backend bottlenecks, and resolve runtime exceptions in production environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional product and frontend teams to define technical requirements and deliver new product features.

Required Qualification and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical software engineering experience.
• 0-1 years of hands-on professional experience in backend software development using Node.js and Express.js.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript ES6+ features, asynchronous programming, event loops, and callbacks.
• Demonstrated experience working with Database Systems including MongoDB and relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Working knowledge of Version Control Systems, specifically Git and GitHub workflows.
• Familiarity with API Development principles, RESTful architecture, and Postman testing utilities.
• Basic understanding of Cloud Platforms such as AWS for application hosting and environment management.
• Excellent analytical capabilities, structured problem-solving mindset, and effective communication skills within agile teams.
