Junior Node.js And PostgreSQL Backend Engineer

What role will you play in the team

As a Junior Node.js and PostgreSQL Backend Engineer, you will drive the creation of robust server-side logic, data storage architectures, and scalable web services. You will work alongside senior backend developers to build high-volume APIs, manage relational database schemas, and ensure absolute data security, application uptime, and seamless integration with cloud infrastructure services.

What you will do

You will design and implement RESTful endpoints and backend workflows using Node.js and Express.js. You will write optimized PostgreSQL queries, implement database indexing strategies, set up automated testing pipelines, manage source code repositories via Git and GitHub, and configure server environments to ensure high availability and optimal application responsiveness under heavy loads.

Key responsibility

• Design, build, and maintain scalable server-side applications and microservices using Node.js and Express.js framework.
• Develop, optimize, and manage relational database schemas, complex queries, and migrations using PostgreSQL.
• Implement secure RESTful APIs equipped with proper authentication, authorization protocols, data validation, and error handling.
• Deploy and monitor backend services on cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure with high reliability.
• Manage code versioning, pull requests, and collaborative feature branches using Git and GitHub workflows.
• Conduct rigorous debugging, profiling, and performance tuning of backend APIs to minimize latency and response times.

Required Qualification and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical background.
• 0 to 1 year of practical experience developing backend applications with Node.js and JavaScript.
• Solid understanding of relational Database Systems, specifically PostgreSQL, normalization, and SQL query optimization.
• Hands-on experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs and understanding asynchronous event-driven architecture.
• Familiarity with Cloud Platforms like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform for deployments.
• Proficiency in using Git and GitHub for version control, code tracking, and collaborative team development.

A Day in the Life

You start your morning by reviewing server performance logs and checking GitHub issues assigned for the sprint. You then write database migration scripts in PostgreSQL and implement a new RESTful endpoint using Node.js. Later, you collaborate with the frontend team to test API responses before pushing your updates to the repository.
