Senior Resident General Surgery & Minimal Access Surgery

Provide clinical care to surgical patients in OPD, IPD, Emergency, ICU and OT.

Conduct daily ward rounds and assess patients' clinical progress.

Perform pre-operative and post-operative evaluation and management.

Assist consultants in elective and emergency operations and independently perform procedures appropriate to the resident's competency and institutional privileges. JJobLeads+1

Manage surgical emergencies and trauma cases, including initial assessment, resuscitation and appropriate referral/escalation.

Participate in emergency/on-call duties as per the departmental roster.

Maintain complete and accurate case sheets, operative notes, progress notes, discharge summaries and other medical records.

Counsel patients and relatives regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, procedures, risks and follow-up.

Supervise and guide junior residents, interns and medical students in clinical duties.

Participate in ward teaching, case presentations, seminars, journal clubs and other academic activities. TTymblHub

Participate in Morbidity & Mortality meetings, clinical audits, research and publications.

Follow hospital policies regarding infection control, patient safety, biomedical waste management and ethical medical practice.

Coordinate patient care with anesthesia, radiology, medicine, ICU and other specialties.

Perform other clinical and academic duties assigned by the HOD/Medical Superintendent. Government hospital job descriptions similarly place senior residents above postgraduate students and below basic teaching faculty, with responsibility for patient care and emergency duties.
