Deputy General Manager/General Manager - Purchase - Manufacturing

Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned strategic leader to join our organization in Vishakhapatnam as a Deputy General Manager or General Manager - Purchase. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, ensuring the seamless acquisition of high-quality materials and services that drive our operational excellence. You will work closely with cross-functional leadership, including production, finance, and logistics teams, to align purchasing strategies with broader business objectives. By championing cost optimization and robust vendor relationships, you will play a critical role in enhancing our bottom line and maintaining a competitive edge in the global market. Your leadership will directly influence our supply chain resilience and the overall efficiency of our manufacturing and distribution networks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Formulate and execute comprehensive procurement strategies to ensure the timely availability of resources while maintaining strict adherence to quality and budgetary standards.
• Lead complex negotiations with domestic and international vendors to secure favorable contract terms, thereby driving significant cost optimization across the supply chain.
• Oversee the end-to-end import and export documentation process, ensuring full regulatory compliance and seamless cross-border logistics.
• Drive the digital transformation of procurement processes by leveraging SAP S/4HANA to enhance data visibility, reporting accuracy, and operational transparency.
• Manage and cultivate long-term strategic partnerships with key suppliers to mitigate supply chain risks and ensure business continuity.
• Implement rigorous quality management protocols to ensure all procured materials meet internal specifications and international industry standards.
• Mentor and lead a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.

Required Skillset:

• Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing and procurement management, with a proven track record of managing large-scale supply chain operations for 20 to 30 years.
• Advanced proficiency in SAP S/4HANA, with the ability to utilize ERP systems to drive process automation and data-driven decision-making.
• Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills, with the ability to navigate complex legal and commercial frameworks to protect organizational interests.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities, capable of influencing senior stakeholders and managing diverse teams in an on-site manufacturing environment in Vizag.
• In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and logistics management to support global procurement initiatives.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or service levels.
• Educational background in Engineering or Management from a premier institute is highly preferred, coupled with a deep understanding of industrial procurement cycles.
