Paytm - Assistant Vice President - Supply Chain & Logistics

About the Role:
Paytm is seeking an experienced supply chain and logistics leader to own the end-to-end device supply chain ecosystem for its merchant devices business, including Soundboxes and EDC/POS terminals.
This role will be responsible for ensuring seamless device availability across the network by managing supply planning, vendor coordination, inventory movement, warehousing, forward logistics, reverse logistics, and asset recovery operations. The role will serve as the central operating leader across the device lifecycle, from manufacturing partner dispatches through merchant deployment and eventual retrieval, refurbishment, or redeployment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale distributed supply chain networks, logistics operations, vendor ecosystems, inventory governance, and operational excellence programs.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End Supply Chain Ownership:
- Own the complete supply chain strategy and execution for Paytm's device ecosystem, including Soundboxes and EDC/POS devices.
- Ensure uninterrupted device availability to support merchant acquisition, replacement, and growth requirements.
- Drive alignment between business demand forecasts, vendor supply plans, inventory availability, and deployment needs.
- Build scalable operating models capable of supporting rapid nationwide growth.
Supply Planning & Vendor Management:
- Manage supply relationships with domestic manufacturing partners, OEMs, and device vendors.
- Ensure vendors consistently meet commitments related to production schedules, quality standards, and supply timelines.
- Drive regular business reviews, performance governance, and escalation management with strategic partners.
- Develop risk mitigation plans to address supply disruptions and demand fluctuations.
- Ensure strong collaboration between internal stakeholders and external vendor ecosystems.
Warehousing & Inventory Management:
- Oversee central warehouse and regional hub operations.
- Drive inventory accuracy, reconciliation, stock visibility, and asset traceability across the network.
- Optimize inventory positioning to improve deployment speed while minimizing working capital and ageing inventory.
- Establish robust controls for audits, stock management, and asset accountability.
Forward Logistics & Deployment Operations:

- Own the logistics network from vendors to warehouses, warehouses to hubs, and hubs to frontline deployment teams.
- Ensure devices are delivered efficiently and on time to support merchant deployment requirements.
- Optimize transportation networks, logistics costs, service levels, and operational throughput.
- Develop scalable logistics frameworks to support nationwide operations.
Reverse Logistics & Asset Recovery:
- Lead end-to-end reverse logistics operations for device returns, replacements, merchant pickups, refurbishments, and recoveries.
- Improve device recovery rates and asset utilization across the installed base.
- Drive efficient movement of returned devices between merchants, hubs, warehouses, and refurbishment partners.
- Establish governance mechanisms to minimize losses and improve asset accountability.
Refurbishment & Lifecycle Management:
- Oversee refurbishment and redeployment processes to maximize device utilization and reduce replacement costs.
- Partner with service operations and quality teams to improve refurbishment outcomes and turnaround times.
- Build lifecycle management frameworks that optimize device economics and operational efficiency.
Process Excellence & Analytics:
- Develop operational dashboards and governance mechanisms covering supply, inventory, logistics, recovery, and asset utilization.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators across the supply chain network.
- Drive automation, digitization, and technology adoption to improve visibility and control.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost, speed, quality, and scalability.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Build and lead high-performing supply chain and logistics teams.
- Partner closely with business, finance, product, service operations, procurement, and vendor teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Foster a culture of accountability, operational rigor, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience:
- 12-18 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, operations, or distribution leadership roles.
- Proven experience managing large-scale national logistics and inventory networks.
- Experience in devices, telecom, fintech, consumer electronics, ecommerce, mobility, or related industries preferred.
- Strong exposure to both forward and reverse logistics operations.
- Experience managing external vendors and distributed operational ecosystems.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree required.
